FAQs

When do applications close?

Applications close two weeks before the start date of the intake you are applying for. Please see Key Dates in our 2024 student prospectus for specific application close dates. However applications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis after the application close date at the discretion of academyEX. Please contact enrol@academyex.com.

What discounts and scholarships are available?

Early Bird Discount:

There is an Early Bird discount of 10% off the course fees for domestic students who apply 4 weeks before the start date of an intake, and 8 weeks before the start of an intake for international students.

The following scholarships can be applied for, and cover 50% of the programme fees.

  • Tangata Whenua - for learners who identify as Māori
  • Pacific Ako - for learners who identify as Pacific
  • Taipakeke - for learners who are aged 60 years and over.
  • Impact Scholarship - for learners who are positively impacting people, society and/or the planet.


Please note: Early Bird Discount and Scholarships cannot both be applied. If you receive a scholarship, the remaining amount payable will not be discounted with the early bird rate.

Learn to adapt strategies and work collaboratively:

Critiquing and Impacting Practices:

Analyse past, present, and emerging educational practices, and assess their cultural and social implications within the broader educational landscape.

Analysing and Assessing Emerging Opportunities:

Utilise tools to critically assess current and emerging opportunities in modern education, and formulate strategies to enhance teaching practices and the wider teaching field.

Adapting to Emerging Technologies:

Build the capability to acquire and adapt specialised knowledge in emerging and disruptive technologies, promoting digital fluency within the teaching practice.

Complete two courses (10 weeks full time, or 20 weeks part time), one focused on Contemporary Teaching and one to guide through the process of developing a proposal for a practice* based change project to be implemented in Part 3.

Contemporary Teaching and Project Proposal.

In this capstone course, put the practice-based change project into action to demonstrate improvements in both practice and learning.

Practice-based Change Project.

Choose either a 90 credit pathway or 45 credit pathway complemented by elective courses (30 weeks full time, or 44 weeks part time).

Next intake: 

  • July 16th (part time).

Contemporary Teaching.

Digital Fluency.

Collaboration in Practice.

Practice based change research – including the development of a plan and implementation of a project.

Strategic planning skills to develop and implement strategies that improve teaching practices and contribute to the broader field of education.

Leading Innovative Solutions:

Acquire the knowledge and skills required to lead and develop collaborative, learner-focused 'solutions in practice' within the ever-evolving challenges and opportunities in contemporary education.

What are the entry requirements?

To be admitted to this Masters, you need to have:

  •  A recognised bachelor's degree in the same or similar discipline (education), with merit achievements, deemed to be an average grade of B- or higher in all Level 7 courses. OR
  • A professional qualification in a relevant discipline, recognised as being equivalent to merit achievement in a bachelor degree or equivalent.
